What did Bruce Lee pick up from a chicken fighting style?
The first episode of the series showcased Lee’s character getting into a fight with another character named Blair. Blair was physically stronger than Lee, which is why everyone was left confused when Lee won against him. Later, Lee’s friends surrounded him to ask him how he pulled it off. To this, Lee replied that since he is not an expert in boxing, he would’ve lost if he would’ve gone head-first in the fight. Hence, he picked up a different route. Lee revealed that he had incorporated a saying he recently read by Kung Fu practitioners.

Reciting the saying, Lee said, “Pigs use their heads, chickens use their wings. They have their ways to get food.” When his friends couldn’t process what he had said, he further elaborated on the learning for them. He shared that if one wants to be on the defensive side, one should fight like a pig. However, if one wants to lead the fight and be on the offense, one should behave like a chicken.

“If you want to protect yourself, you must learn from pigs. But if you want to attack, you need to act like a chicken,” said Danny while portraying Bruce Lee. He further elaborated that for the onlookers, it may seem that the chicken uses its beak to attack its opponents. However, that’s just a distraction. In reality, it is the claws with which it attacks.

Further in the series, Lee is having a conversation with his master. The master relays the key to learning kung-fu. “The key to learning kung-fu is to sharpen your mind. Only by sharpening your mind can you perceive the way to kung fu,” said the master to Lee.
