Over the years, many top-notch track and field athletes have found success in other sports. Recently, former track and field star Salma Paralluelo, who joined FC Barcelona last summer, helped her national team create history. The 19-year-old Paralluelo scored a goal in the semis and helped Spain reach the women’s World Cup final for the first time in history.

Unfortunately, not every track and field athlete finds the same level of success after changing the trajectory of their career. A 22-year-old USA track and field phenom who left the sports for the NFL has found himself in hot waters. Anthony Schwartz, who made up to $2 million with the Cleveland Browns, is currently unemployed before the start of the new NFL season.

NFL star unemployed before the new season

On September 2, Track Spice posted an update on former track and field athlete Anthony Schwartz, who left track and field to make a career in the NFL. “BACK TO ZERO NFL star Anthony Schwartz, who ditched the track and field career for football, wakes up unemployed at 22 after brutal roster cuts,” the tweet read.

The 22-year-old Schwartz is officially out of an NFL career after the Cleveland Browns waived him. According to reports, Schwartz, who was the 91st pick of the Browns in 2021, could not live up to the expectations of the team after two years of poor performance. The 22-year-old could only make a single touchdown and 14 catches (186 yards) in the 25 games he played representing the Browns.
