Conor McGregor will go down in history as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. He is a former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, having fought twice at the welterweight division. He will make his much-anticipated return to the octagon on Jan. 18 at UFC 246. McGregor’s return to the octagon is one of the biggest talking points in MMA right now.

McGregor’s rise to stardom started from his first fight for the promotion, however, he shocked the MMA world when he took down Jose Aldo to win the UFC featherweight championship at UFC 194.

Conor McGregor knocks out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds

McGregor was scheduled to face Jose Aldo at UFC 189. However, he pulled out of the bout due to rib injury. To make amends, UFC planned an interim lightweight championship match as a replacement where Conor McGregor faced Chad Mendes at the main event. McGregor won the fight in the second round of the match via TKO. McGregor faced Jose Aldo in the title unification match at UFC 194.

Conor McGregor said in the pre-match conference when asked to predict the outcome of the match. Jose Aldo was on an 18 fight win streak when the Notorious shocked the MMA world. In the 13th second of the first round, McGregor sent a scintillating left hand as a counter punch, which dropped Aldo on the ground.

For the first time in around ten years, Aldo suffered a loss in his career. McGregor achieved the impossible as he took down the greatest featherweight mixed martial artist of all time. He created history for the fastest knockout in a championship match.

McGregor will face Donald Cerrone in his much-anticipated return at UFC 246 inside T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. He will return to the welterweight division and square off against Cerrone, who already has a considerable amount of experience at 170.
