Arguably Djokovic has got the best start to the 2020 season. In fact, he is unbeaten this year boasting a record of 18-0. He won all his six singles matches in the ATP Cup and guided Serbia to the ATP Cup trophy. Next came the Australian Open where he won the Grand Slam defeating Dominic Thiem in the final. Later he won the Dubai Championships as well.
So with this record going into any tournament, Djokovic will be a favorite. Looking at the draw, Djokovic has a relatively easier draw. With the heavyweights like Alexander Zverev, Matteo Berrettini, etc all in number two seed Dominic Theim’s half. And so the only real challenge to Djokovic will be Daniil Medvedev. We could get a mouth-watering Semifinal clash of Djokovic and Medvedev. If Djokovic and Thiem reach the finals, we could see a repeat of the 2020 Australian Open final.

Djokovic in the 2019 Cincinnati Open lost to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. This year as well, they are slated to face each other in the semis. So it will be a tough task for the Serbian. And with the current situation being different, we could see some surprises. No one has played for months and so they will take some time adapting. Whoever adapts faster will win. But given Djokovic’s experience and an easier draw, he will be a huge favorite. But expect the next-gen to keep Djokovic on his toes.
