After the record-breaking success of the 2024 WNBA season, everybody expected the 2025 season to reach even bigger heights. With the 2024 draft class entering their sophomore season, they were expected to lead the league to exponential growth. While the league’s viewership has grown, the superstars from the 2024 rookie class have had a struggling season. Caitlin Clark has only been able to play in 13 games this season. And now, her biggest rival, Angel Reese, is also expected to miss even more time with injuries.
Angel Reese was on a tear after overcoming some sophomore season jitters early in the season. After some inconsistent play till the early part of June, Angel Reese has scored in double digits in all but one game. However, a niggling back injury has kept her out for the past few games. There was hope that she could be back for the game against the Connecticut Sun. But, according to recent reports, Angel Reese has been ruled out for the game.

While discussing her recovery, head coach Tyler Marsh said, “she wants to be out there. She’s a competitor, she’s a winner so. It’s hard for her to not be out here for her teammates. We want her to be as healthy as possible when she is ready to come back.” With Angel Reese missing the game against the Connecticut Sun, it will be the 6th consecutive game that she has missed. Now with head coach Tyler Marsh’s latest comments, fans are wondering if they will get to see Angel Reese before the season ends.
As of now, the Chicago Sky have a 8-23 record in the league and as sitting at the 12th spot in the league table. Though mathematically, they could still make the playoffs, history dictates that it is virtually impossible. In this situation, there should be no rush in bringing her back. Logic would dictate shutting her down for the rest of the season. But the way Angel Reese has played this season, she would for sure like to continue her record breaking season.
Angel Reese and Her Historic Sophomore Year
Angel Reese has always been in headlines. Even before she stepped on the WNBA court, she was viral for after her game against Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes. The moment she pulled out the ‘you can’t see me’ gesture, she her and Caitlin Clark’s rivalry took the basketball world by storm. Though neither player admits that there is a rivalry, fans and analysts around the world think otherwise. But is having a rivalry with the most popular player a bad thing?
