Two names that have been echoing across the Lincoln Center halls in New York are Selena Gomez and A’ja Wilson. The two ladies have come far in their respective careers, earning much-deserved accolades on the way. But who knew they would be present at the same stage, talking about the things that matter the most to them? And that the 2x WNBA champion will set the 2024 Time100 Summit on fire with her chic yet bossy look powered by Rare Beauty? The Las Vegas Aces star had a lot to share at the star-studded event along with her request to the women’s sports fans.

A’ja Wilson was one of the speakers at the 2024 Time100 Summit and Gala held on April 24th and 25th. She joined Ibtihaj Muhammad, Olympic gold medalist in fencing and Pablo Torre, podcaster for Pablo Torre Finds Out to talk about the state of women’s sports. The two ladies have a direct correlation with the league. Hence, their voice matters more. They discussed the payment gap for women athletes and solutions for the same.

Asking avid basketball fans to invest their time and money in women’s sports, Wilson had a request. She pleaded, “Buy that jersey. Go to that game, take someone else, put your money where your mouth is and invest in these women.” While Wilson was more than happy about how the NIL law has empowered college athletes, she also wished that it was a thing during her time. She said, “Obviously, my bank account would be the biggest difference, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that I would have an agent in college.”

The look was created by Kourtney Nicole, the Rare Beauty pro artist and educator in NYC. Apart from her makeup, A’ja Wilson had many other artists work on her for the final look. Madame Muse gave her the locks. Also, she dressed up in 831 MINHLE, a ready-to-wear couture brand. The custom-design label boasts creating suitable looks for “WISE”, which according to them is, “Women Inspiring Success & Empowerment.”

Undeniably, A’ja Wilson has shown her thirst to be a catalyst for improving the lives of women. Whether it is through her on-court talents or as an author of the best-selling book. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this stellar performer as she too joins other big guns in raising awareness about women athlete’s paychecks.
