The Indiana Fever’s 2025 season unraveled before it ever found momentum. Plagued by injuries, the team saw five key players sidelined: Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, Chloe Bibby, and Sydney Colson. McDonald, Cunningham, and Colson all required surgery, ruling them out for the remainder of the season. Colson’s injury, in particular, remains vivid for many fans after she lost her footing and fell awkwardly in front of the team’s bench during a game against the Phoenix Mercury last August.
She was later carried off into the locker room. It was later revealed to be a torn ACL in the left knee. Consequently, she underwent surgery two weeks later to fix the issue.
Not just that, Sydney Colson even chose to come over on Instagram live right after her surgery, which shocked many. But now she’s back, and it looks like her journey towards rehabilitation is a success. The Instagram post she shared showed a clip from Forrest Gump breaking free from his shackles and running, followed by her running on the court at full speed. It said “4 months post op”.

Colson, a veteran player, has played 271 games in her career and has represented the who’s who of basketball, including the New York Liberty, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, and Chicago Sky.
Moreover, she is a two-time WNBA champion from 2022-23, so, naturally, as a respected veteran, she is highly regarded and has the tenacity and grit to come back from a career-ending injury. So this deserved huge props, and her fans and teammates did not forget to shower her with praises.

Sydney Colson’s presence has always been critical to the team, as she is the primary ball handler on the court and effective on rotations. Her presence on the court helps her team to ease the pressure on other guards like Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham, and Lexie Hull. So obviously, everyone on the team is rooting for her to get back.

“So proud of you, Chica ❤️❤️LFG,” was what teammate Dantas Damiris had to say, who knows a thing or two with regards to injuries, with her history of concussions she suffered during practice this year in September, which made her miss out on several playoff games and put her indefinitely into the league’s concussion protocol.

“Fast as hellll boiiii,” came Aliyah Boston’s comment, who is a close friend of the Houston native. Colson has been quite a regular on Aliyah’s podcast -Post Moves, and is seen sharing fun moments off court through their social media posts.

Colson obviously is much more senior to Boston and embraces her role in guiding and mentoring the 6’5″ forward. Fellow guard Shey Peddy also gave the “LFG 👏🏾 👏🏾” emoji to show her support. Peddy, too, like Colson, is another veteran playing for the Fever and also joined Indiana during 2025.
One of the funniest comments, however, was from an Insta user who had a bit of a creative mind. “I was kinda hoping for the gym door to be open and you just kept running into the street😂 But I get it…one step at a time,” Well, that would have definitely added a whole new Rocky Balboa-esque feel to it. But what’s more important now is to see if Colson can make the comeback as Rocky did.
