Venus Williams has been a sensation both on and off the court. The seven-time grand slam winner has won the hearts of people through her on-court performance. Her aggressive gameplay and resilience to claim victory made her shine. And Richard Williams trained both the Williams sisters and made sure to celebrate their victories.

However, it sometimes triggered and drew blunt reactions from her opponents. Lindsay Davenport was one of them and had made her frustration clear.
Lindsay Davenport got triggered by the Wimbledon 2000 celebration of Venus Williams
Lindsay Davenport is a former world no. 1 player and has three grand slam titles at each of the majors except the Roland Garros. She had decided to take on the Williams sisters along with Martina Hingis. She kept her end of the promise and was to face Venus Williams in the finals. Everyone sensed the tension. Venus had said, “It’s getting to be like the WWF.”

They played the match for three sets and Venus Williams took down Lindsay Davenport. The celebration of the Williams family agitated the Davenport at the Wimbledon 2000. The victory celebration by Richard Williams had irked many but Davenport had decided to ignore it and face the other way.
A year ahead with the same emotions
Davenport said, “It’s better not to see how they act”. However, she was not done there. A year later in 2001, the player was still on her toes to take Venus Williams down. She had said, “I should have taken the final and didn’t. You’ve gotta go after Venus.”

Venus Williams however was not letting her last year’s victory get to her head. She was ready to face anyone on the court head-on. She stated, “Bring it on. Last year was last year, and it was great. But I want it this year, too.”

Venus Williams went on to win seven grand slam titles in her glorious career. Along with her sister, Serena Williams, the player won fourteen grand slam titles on the doubles track.

Though the player is not active at the moment on the court, there are still high hopes for the player’s comeback.
