Over the past few years, mental health has become the talk of the town. While several players have come forward to open up about their mental health, one that remains the flag bearer is Naomi Osaka. The 4-time Grand Slam champion is one of the most prominent players who has unapologetically came forward to talk about mental health.

In recent years, the former World No. 1 has time and again taken a break from the tour to battle her mental health issues. Walking in the shoes of Osaka, the latest celebrity to take a break from his profession is the Canadian singer, Shawn Mendes.
Shawn Mendes becomes the latest victim of mental health
The 23-year-old singer is one of the most celebrated singers of today’s generation. Giving hits like ‘Treat you Better’ and ‘Stitches’, Mendis has been steadily climbing the ladder of success. Today, Mendis enjoys the status of a Billboard chart holder. However, even the utmost fame wasn’t able to protect Mendes from a disturbance in his mental health.
Two days ago, Mendes, who has been lately occupied with his Wonder Tour, took to his Instagram to put up a post; opening about his mental health. Confessing the unpleasant condition, he admitted, “This breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I’m going to have to postpone the next three weeks of shows through Uncasville, CT until further notice. I’ve been touring since I was 15 and, to be honest it’s always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family….”

….After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately, the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point. After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost. As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know love, you guys.”
Going by the post of Mendes, a total of 11 shows are expected to be affected by the announcement. Coincidentally, all of the 11 shows were scheduled to take place in the United States of America.

The mental breakdowns of Naomi Osaka
Going back in time, it was last year that she first opened up about her ongoing struggle with mental health. Coming in as a 4-time Grand Slam champion, Osaka was the hot favorite for the 2021 French Open title. However, things turned unpleasant when she opted to miss the post-match press conference. Opening up about his decision, she admitted that she had been facing long bouts of depression since 2018.
