Serena Williams is one of those who have fans beyond the sport. The 23 times Grand Slam champion receives adoration even from the crowd that doesn’t follow tennis. People love her and are always ready to defend her during the tough times of her career.

Speaking of rough patches, she recently made a comeback in the grass courts of England. However, she fell short and couldn’t live up to her fans’ expectations. Even so, the crowd didn’t thrash her. In fact, rather than slamming her with accusations of missing practice, they cheered for her, in the recent Washington tour.

Serena Williams’ adventure

Williams is a person who likes to maintain the balance between her profession and her life. Therefore, to undo the stress, she often takes out some time from her regime for fun recreational activities. This time, before jumping on the hard courts of Toronto, she took a small trip. The highlight of the trip after a practice session with Venus was her riding a scooter on the roads of WashingtonDC

To which a concerned fan responded with, “Serena girl please don’t fall!” While the others wrote things such as, “If I see Serena in these DC seats, I will fall out! And “Live your life.”

Williams will gear up for the last Grand Slam of the year to give a decent end to the season. She will continue her comeback in the WTA 1000 event based in Canada. The former World no.1 will look forward to oiling her hard court skills and claiming her fourth Canadian Masters.

The WTA event will commence on 8th August and will crown its winner on 14 August. Following that, Williams will participate in the Cincinnati-based event to get an understanding of her current state. Fans will also get a sense of what to expect from the seven times champion in the US Open.

The cost of failing at the grass swing

Williams would have benefited in a variety of ways if she executed a decent run in Wimbledon. She could have touched the milestone of 100 match wins in the grass-based Grand Slam and given a befitting reply to the hates demanding retirement. But she failed to do so.

As a consequence of that, apart from losing a golden opportunity, she also lost her protected ranking. Williams was thrown out of the rankings after the Wimbledon championships as the tournament had no points to offer. Thus breaking her record of 25 years.
