To be fair, she ain’t wrong to do so, considering the 44-year-old has gone through tough times that hardly anyone would ever imagine her going through. The good thing is that the iconic tennis figure was able to share this with her fans, courtesy of a new venture she recently began with her sister Venus Williams, having launched their podcast, Stockton Street, on X, which is based on their lives growing up in Compton.

In the latest episode, Serena Williams shared how her life was more than just about facing the limelight on the court. “Having a group of people, someone you can rely on to get you through those tough moments, is super important because imagine being at the top of your game, top of the world, literally winning Wimbledon, watching the World Cup, and then something fall on my foot and slicing it,” she began.

Williams described how one can go from being at the top of the world to suddenly feeling like they’re nowhere, without any clear reason. She added that in such moments, it becomes a struggle to hold on and still find a way to maintain sanity. That’s why she decided to add a certain activity to her own routine.

It’s all about small achievements for Serena Williams!

By making these daily affirmations, Serena Williams has actually witnessed significant changes, positive ones, in her day-to-day life. In the very same segment, Meka shared that one day, while visiting Walmart, she was able to find a very neat parking spot that was just in front of the exit. Quite a lucky coincidence, considering the place hardly sees people getting parking space quite easily, and the place is packed even on slow days.

Now, of course, one can argue how getting a parking spot could possibly be considered an achievement, but in Serena Williams’ eyes, a victory is a victory—no matter how big or small. In the case of securing a spot at Walmart, it was a minor one, yet still something that helped brighten her day, as she loudly shouted, “Come on!” after safely parking her car close to the entrance.

And that’s exactly what the Queen of the WTA wants people to understand. It’s all about recognizing the little victories in life and realizing the significance they can hold. Not to mention, the timing made it even more meaningful, as Serena had already been going through a lot. “That small victory will get me through the other side of whatever you’re going through,” she concluded.
