The reference made in the clip has one segment from RAW where Rollins calls himself the best in the world. CM Punk said something similar during his iconic pipe bomb promo in 2011. The other segment with Rollins involved commentator Michael Cole in a recent episode of RAW with Rollins.

Cole called Rollins a puppeteer and a manipulator, while Punk had used something similar during his indie days at ROH promotion. Another reference was made when Rollins was advertised for Fastlane on promotional material.

WWE even made Shinsuke Nakamura use a move similar to Punk’s GTS on RAW this week on Ricochet. However, WWE has denied on the surface any chance of Punk’s return including a statement from their official.

Cory Graves denies hinting at Punk’s return

WWE fans speculated a cue on Punk’s return at Fastlane as commentator Cory Graves dropped potential hints at Punk’s return. Graves said during his commentary, “Living life on the edge of a lightning bolt…”, a phrase used by Punk on his Instagram story earlier.

However, Graves later denied these cues. He took to X and labeled it as mental gymnastics for fans and experts. As per Graves, it was a reference to the late Dusty Rhodes who used it in 2015.
