Bayley Reveals the Reason WWE Booked Her SmackDown Women’s Championship Match against Bianca Belair

After missing out on WrestleMania, Bayley bounced back in the grandest fashion. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion gets a shot at reclaiming the title she held for most of 2020. Thanks to her perseverence and the fans’ support, she will be Bianca Belair’s first challenger for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Bayley credits the internet for #1 contendership

On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Bayley became the #1 contender for the SmackDown Women’s Title. Who did she beat? Did Sasha Banks even bother showing up? Well, no one and no sign of Banks at all. Bayley will challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Title purely because of the internet.

Fans voiced their displeasure over Bayley not being a part of WrestleMania 37. Instead of featuring in a prominent role, Bayley played the role of a flea annoying a dog as she buzzed around hosts, Titus O’Neil and Hulk Hogan.

On WrestleMania Sunday, the former hugger had an altercation with new Hall of Fame inductees, the Bella Twins. She lost it at the twins, claiming their outfits reminded her of Elmo and roasted Nikki by telling her, John Cena isn’t here.”

The Bellas attacked her and tossed her down the stage to massive boos from the WWE Universe. WWE must’ve noticed the reaction to the segment and decided Bayley is too valuable to be treated this way. Two weeks after that, she is the #1 contender for Bianca Belair‘s SmackDown Women’s Championship.

WrestleMania Backlash card

So far, WWE has confirmed only two matches for the WrestleMania Backlash card. The WWE Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Title are only two of the many title matches that will feature on the card.

Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre will clash in a WrestleMania rematch at the event. The All Mighty and the Scottish Warrior’s rivalry is only at stage two and an effective conclusion is required.

Roman Reigns dominated at WrestleMania 37, but his next challenger might be unbeatable. Even though he faces Daniel Bryan next week, Cesaro is the front-runner to challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania Backlash.
