Recently, Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman have emerged as one of the most entertaining duos in WWE. The Bloodline’s Wiseman and The Tribal Chief have brought a new wave of freshness with their act. Now they are becoming very popular with the WWE Universe. However, the Undisputed WWE Champion and Heyman weren’t always a unit. Moreover, they used to be on opposite ends when he was the advocate of Brock Lesnar.

The Roman Reigns versus ‘The Beast Incarnate’ saga saw Reigns clash with Brock Lesnar for the WWE title multiple times. Paul Heyman was actively involved in their bouts, representing Lesnar and provoking or distracting Reigns. Recently, however, Heyman revealed how his partnership with ‘The Head of the Table’ began.

Paul Heyman has been a part of WWE for a very long time. As per a Cody Rhodes promo, Heyman has been around since the time of the legendary Dusty Rhodes. However, he is not just a behind-the-scenes man for WWE anymore. Interestingly, Heyman recently appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and revealed how he moved away from Brock Lesnar and joined Roman Reigns.

Paul Heyman said, “Well, Roman (Reigns) and I had been talking about working together for many, many years, and it just the timing was never right. In that WWE was presenting him as the Big Dog, as the big hero. Um, as you know, this WrestleMania main event to follow in the steps of John Cena, and I was the advocate for Brock Lesnar, and just leaving that position would have been insane.” But, things were soon about to get rocky for him and the entire world.

“Now, the pandemic hits, and Brock Lesnar uh, wraps up his time in WWE and goes off to Saskatchewan to hunt… and Roman Reigns had taken time off because uh, his wife had given birth to another set of twin boys,” said Paul Heyman further.

Heyman continued, “And also because of the pandemic and his health concerns regarding staying safe for his family during this unfathomable health crisis that was gripping the entire world.” However, this adversity came with an opportunity.

Paul Heyman noted, “So, in August 2020, when I’m Brock Lesnar free, I’m no longer the executive director of Raw. So, I’m in the ocean of obscurity at the moment, and Roman Reigns agrees to come back to WWE if he’s allowed to portray himself, and we get a chance to work together.” Heyman further said.

Paul Heyman recently earned his spot as the first WWE Hall of Famer of the Class of 2024. Heyman’s WWE bio gave credit to his stint with Brock Lesnar, when he popularized his iconic line, “Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Paul Heyman.” However, this headstart he received with The Beast Incarnate would have gone to waste if he hadn’t partnered with Roman Reigns.

As The Wiseman of The Bloodline, Paul Heyman acts as the official mouthpiece of the faction. Moreover, even the biggest WWE Superstars like Cody Rhodes see him as a threat. Heyman’s character feels more whole alongside Roman Reigns instead of a sidekick meant to generate some dull boos.
