John Cena’s Grand MITB Return Reportedly Scrapped Pre-scheduled Plans for 7-Time WWE Champion

WWE is a promotion known for several last moment changes. Sometimes fans like what they do with these changes. Other times, they don’t receive a good response. A new report suggests yet another last moment change that could be rather controversial. Depending upon which superstar you would rather prefer to see on the screen, you would either love or hate this.

WWE’s Money in The Bank just took place last weekend. Many fans considered it a successful event. Like a lot of other PLEs, we saw unexpected twists. However, one twist that would be subjected to opinion is that WWE had plans for a 7-time WWE champion that were scrapped ahead of the event because of John Cena.

There is no doubt that John Cena is a WWE legend. The wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor is a major fan attraction. So, it appears that whenever Cena is able to spare moments from his busy schedule, WWE swoops in to book him for any show possible. The promotion booked Cena for Money in the Bank 2023. ‘The Champ’ appeared, and it was a good sight for several WWE fans. However, an alternative scenario could’ve taken place.

‘WRKD Wrestling’ reports that the WWE’s original plan with MITB was to keep Brock Lesnar as a surprise entry. That didn’t work out well. This happened because when Cena and Drew McIntyre were set to return, there was fear in the creatives. They were afraid that other surprise entries might suppress Lesnar’s return.

At last, WWE was able to plan a surprise return for The Beast Incarnate at Monday Night Raw following the PLE.

The time John Cena couldn’t take away Brock Lesnar’s return

While it looked like The Beast Incarnate was finally done with Cody Rhodes, the company had a surprise in store for his fans. Lesnar returned to WWE on Raw 07/03. The first thing that The Beast did upon entering the arena was to assault Cody Rhodes.

There was a hint of excitement in Rhodes’ reaction when he saw his most recent rival return to the company. After all, The American Nightmare had thought that he would never see him again. Rhodes’ speculation was proved wrong when Lesnar showed up at Monday Night Raw.

All of this happened during Rhodes’ ongoing exchange of dialogues with Seth Rollins. Lesnar suddenly entered and stood at the other end of the ramp. Rhodes rushed to him and then began a series of punches and kicks. Lesnar was able to push back to the ring. Right when he picked up Rhodes to slam him on the ground, The American Nightmare turned the tide around, making the 45-year-old retreat backstage.
