Sami Zayn’s story throughout his in-ring career has been filled with ups and downs. The former Intercontinental champion first used to be a fan-favorite baby face, whose prospects have been highly anticipated since NXT. He then turned to a wicked heel, who gained the Intercontinental championship through unfair means. And then he witnessed the iconic run of an only non-Anoa’i wrestler who stood alongside The Bloodline and entertained the fans. The 39-year-old is one of the most intriguing characters in the Stamford-based promotion.

Moreover, his fan following leveled up when he started a rebellion against Roman Reign’s faction and even won the tag team title against them. Despite his popularity, Zayn somehow missed propelling himself to the main event spot. The most remembered match in his singles career might be the one in which he fought against Reigns at the Elimination Chamber in 2023. Since then, he has been away from a major title picture. Well, that might be why the Canadian could change his babyface character in WWE. Zayn, currently having beef with Judgement Day, recently stole the Money in the Bank briefcase of Damian Priest at Crown Jewel. And that could be the starting point of a new story. How? Let’s find out.

It might be the right time for Sami Zayn to change his character

Zayn has been a baby face for quite a while now. After dominating The Usos at WrestleMania 39 this year, he hinted at why he had something big coming up for him. However, the fans noticed that his story was getting off track slowly and gradually. Ever since he settled his dispute with The Bloodline, he has been battling with The Judgement Day till now. Given the same, nothing new has happened to him since he lost his tag team straps at the hands of that very faction.

It surely depicts that the promotion has not been able to come up with creative ideas for Sami Zayn. Because he headlined WrestleMania, Zayn’s story seems to get out of track way too early as the promotion might not have anything novel in the plans for him. Thus, it might be high time for Zayn to witness a character change and chase the major gold. But will he be able to make that happen? He has a proven track record of excelling in this specific role.

Sami Zayn is no stranger to being a heel star

Sami Zayn witnessed quite a long heel run in his career. Before indulging in a feud with The Bloodline, Zayn showcased his dark side to the fans, which might have helped him get along well with Roman Reign’s faction. But after turning his back on the Samoan family, Zayn transitioned into a baby face and teamed up with his best friend Kevin Owens. And since then, Zayn has been a good guy.

The fact is not hidden; being a heel is not novel for the former ‘Honorary Uce’. He has portrayed that character with great enthusiasm, so much so that he could keep the fans intrigued for each of his appearances. Much to everyone’s surprise, his reign as an ‘Honorary Uce’ drew plenty of admiration from the fans and the critics.

The best part of his heel run might be his promos, which left the fans enthralled. He could spread his wings in terms of creativity when he was a bad guy. From helping Kevin Owens in a Hell in a Cell match against Shane McMahon to being inducted as an Honorary Uce in The Bloodline, Zayn didn’t leave a chance to shock yet entertain the fans. He revealed last year on Broken Skull Sessions to ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin that he thought of that change in 2017. Thus, the promotion might think of a transition given Zayn’s performance as a heel superstar. Due to this, he might cash in the contract on Raw finding The Visionary in a vulnerable position.

Zayn has never won a major title in his career

The world knows that Zayn has never won a major singles title in the WWE. Many wrestlers who started with him, such as Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, and AJ Styles, have held the WWE championship, but Sami didn’t. Considering the same, the chances might exist that Zayn could cross all the limits to get his hand on the strap.

Well, the former tag team champion is currently part of the Red Brand Raw. Thus, he might target Seth Rollins’ world title for his success. To make that possible, the WWE could book him as a heel and win the championship for the very first time in his career. Also, considering his recent banter with Drew McIntyre in a backstage segment, he would surely try his best to prove him wrong. Actually, McIntyre shot salvos on Zayn, saying he has never been a world champion in his career. This could unveil his heel side as he prioritizes his championship aspirations over fan sentiments.

And, of course, no one should forget the briefcase that he stole from Damian Priest. That could be a helping hand for the Canadian, since he could cash in whenever he wants. Well, this might not sound appropriate at the moment, but when the promotion has to build a kayfabe for a guy, they plan everything accordingly. Although he is not the actual owner of MITB, he still possesses it. Thus, anything is possible in the world of pro wrestling. Concerning his possible heel turn, let us know your thoughts.
