WWE has etched its status as the prestige wrestling promotion in the world owing to its massive fan appeal. During its tenure, many great wrestlers have come and gone, providing adrenaline-pumping entertainment to the audiences. Along this journey of 60 years, there have been many records that have been established. Some that might never be broken because of their sheer numbers.
Like the record, Vince Mcmahon set for being the oldest WWE Champion at the age of 54 years and 21 days. Or the stunning record that Roman Reigns currently holds of being the longest reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for 1000+ days. But there is one prime record that neither The Tribal Chief nor his cousin Dwayne Johnson came even close to breaking. The record we are talking about is the most matches fought in WWE history.

This particular record would require not just longevity but also great personal fitness. And when you think of most matches wrestled, you will think one of the old time greats hold this record. The names that come to mind would be Hulk Hogan, The Nature Boy Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, or even Triple H. But none of these superstars feature even in the top 15!

Surprisingly, the record for the most matches fought in WWE history goes to none other than ‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane. In his almost 25-year career, Kane has fought in 1802 matches. That is really commendable as it not only goes to show his dedication to the business but also his popularity among the fans.
Wrestlers who have wrestled the most WWE matches in WWE history:
1. Kane-1802 matches
2. Dolph Ziggler-1554
3. Paul Wight-1547
4. Kofi Kingston-1530
5. Randy Orton-1486
6. The Miz-1481
7. Sheamus-1423
8. John Cena-1412
9. Seth Rollins-1224
10. R-Truth-1200
11. Jimmy…— ChanMan (@ChandranTheMan) July 27, 2023
Second in line is Dolph Ziggler with 1554 followed by Kane ex Tag Team partner The Big Show with 1547 matches. Even other greats like ‘The Legend Killer’ Randy Orton made it to the list with 1486 fights. The number could exponentially gro after Orton return to the WWE. The revered star might even break Kane’s record. John Cena came in at number 8 with 1412 fights and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is close in 9th position with 1224 matches.

The American Nightmare also made it to the list with 1128. And maybe this number would be slightly higher had he not left for AEW 7 years ago. But there is another record that The Big Red Machine held that another superstar recently clinched.

This was kinda obvious, as Kane already held the record for most matches fought in WWE. So it’s only legit that he would also have fought in an equally large number of PPV matches. But this record was broken in 2021 by the Legend Killer Randy Orton.
Orton broke the record at Survivor Series and now has 177 PPV matches to his name. A few weeks later, he also broke another record that Kane held on RAW. Orton broke the record for most matches fought on RAW by beating Kane’s 436 matches. The Big Red Machine would definitely be very furious if Randy Orton would go on to break his prized record.
