Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has been making headlines of all sorts recently. First, there was his well-documented fall-out with English soccer club Manchester United, who terminated his contract after his explosive interview.

Then his country dropped him to the bench for key matches as he exited the FIFA World Cup at the quarter-final stage in a tame fashion. So far not many teams have shown an interest in signing Ronaldo and he remains without a club.

Amidst all this, there is speculation of every kind as to what could be his next move. Amidst all this, a WWE star has warned Ronaldo against a sensational move to the squared circle.

Athletes at the twilight of their careers giving pro wrestling a shot isn’t something new. In fact, it has become quite common over the years, with many athletes and celebrities making WWE appearances and even getting into some action.

However, former Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews commented on Ronaldo possibly jumping over to WWE and had a message for him.

Crews weighs in on if Cristiano Ronaldo can succeed in WWE

At 37 years old, time may be running out for Cristiano Ronaldo to keep playing at the highest level in soccer. The icon has won a plethora of domestic and international honors and has nothing left to prove.

Also, after his chaotic end with Manchester United, many clubs aren’t keen on recruiting his services. As such, he has been left without a team to play with and going through professional uncertainty.

Crews said Ronaldo has a strong mentality, but the physical aspect of pro wrestling is a totally different story. Still, the former U. S Champion praised Ronaldo. He said, “But again, (he’s) a world-class athlete so I wouldn’t put it past him.”

Of course, in the past athletes like NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, Dennis Rodman, and former Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski have dabbed their feet in pro wrestling and done a good job.

Ronaldo coming to WWE could be a possibility considering his celebrity lifestyle which fits the WWE sports entertainment extravaganza and if he does Crews may be there to teach him a thing or two.

What next for Ronaldo?

A pro wrestling run may be a bit far-fetched at the moment for Ronaldo. The iconic soccer star still wants to play for his country and will look to get signed by a club. A star name like him could only stay out of the game for so long.
