After Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson was announced, ESNEWS got in touch with Oscar De La Hoya. While ‘Golden Boy’ admitted the upcoming fight would add to Jake Paul’s wealth and popularity, the 51-year-old felt Paul was not taking the sport seriously. Since ‘The Problem Child’ announced he wanted to win a world title, De La Hoya felt Tyson was the wrong opponent to share the ring with. However, what does De La Hoya have to say about Tyson entering the ring against Jake Paul at 58 as far as the latter’s health and legacy were concerned?

Condemning Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson scheduled for July 20th, Oscar De La Hoya was worried about Tyson’s safety. In his opinion, it was likely that Paul could knock out Mike Tyson in the ring. Here is what the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions said.

Therefore, Paul was elated that within only two and a half years of founding MVP, they were staging one of the biggest events in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas which has an 80,000-seat capacity. However, De La Hoya, who sees a potential world champion in Jake Paul, is not pleased. In this context, De La Hoya was asked whether or not the fight would be dangerous for Mike.

It’s not gonna be dangerous for Tyson because Tyson’s been in the ring with monsters. He has a chin, he can still go six rounds, seven rounds, eight rounds, you know. But, I’m just concerned about Tyson’s legacy,” said Oscar De La Hoya. At this, one asked De La Hoya about the potential consequence of Tyson getting caught by one of Paul’s punches. To which he said, “You just don’t know. I’ve never seen a 57-year-old fighter in the ring against a strong guy, a strong bull like Jake Paul.
