Jake Paul and Mike Tyson‘s fight has moved beyond the exhibition prism. So it will be a professional fight with specific rules. The match now involves eight rounds of two short minutes each. Hence, fans and followers could expect a fight to take place in spurts. It could be fast with loads of power shots. It’s highly doubtful whether any room will be left to showcase technical brilliance.
‘The Problem Child’ might have been more active than ‘Iron’ Mike. However, by making his debut in the heavyweight division, he is moving out of his comfort zone. Thus, he is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a clean victory. He seems to have a plan in hand that offers him the critical strength and agility to fight. In the latest episode of his podcast, ‘BS w/ Jake Paul’, he spoke at length about what he envisaged doing.

“It’s just like shocking to people that that is how much I weigh,” said ‘The Problem Child’. According to him, his body and physique remain well tuned to carry heavier weights. The discussion popped up over news reports of Jake Paul weighing around 230 pounds. One of the show’s co-hosts asked whether any issues arose if he weighed 230 pounds. The Ohioan replied that it was just that most followers weren’t accustomed to hearing him go around so massively.
“If I’m training in this camp at 240 then cut down to 220, it’s like I had a 20 pound weight vest on for the entire camp.”

So after the last fight, he decided to do a bit of an experiment and went on an eating spree. So the whole plan is to take his body weight to 240 pounds. Later, he will bring it down to 220 pounds. Thus, he will have a buffer of 20 pounds. It will allow his body to maintain optimum strength.

“Like, I think I’ll get up to 240 and then probably cut down, so I’m like, way faster, but if I’m training for this camp, camp right hasn’t started yet, but if I’m training for this camp at 240 and then I cut down to 220, it’s basically like I had a 20 lb. weight vest on for the whole entire camp, so my muscles are going to be like, so much stronger and and that speed will will come through, “said Jake Paul.

The new approach to weight gain takes a drastic step from the time when he used to weigh at his minimum, i.e., 183.6 pounds. During the last two fights against Andre August and Ryan Bourland, he weighed around two hundred pounds. So if calculated from the time he fought Tommy Fury in February last year, then Jake Paul has added at least 56 pounds of weight to his body.
However, it’s not an out-of-the-box method. Reportedly, while going against Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua also increased his weight to 240 pounds. Later, during subsequent fights, he increased it further. But most fans are well aware that, standing at 6 feet and 6 inches, ‘AJ’ is able to carry his weight commendably. Time alone will tell whether ‘The Problem Child’ is able to adjust to the varying scales he is getting into.
Against a heavy hitter like Mike Tyson, who can also move with lightening speed, Jake Paul will have to make the necessary adjustments. Given the time available, hopefully his training team will have to incorporate new methods and techniques, such as sparring sessions with other heavyweight boxers.
