Following his controversial win against Ismael Barroso, Rolando Romero called out Ryan Garcia in public. Recently, Garcia, who is returning to 140 lbs, publicly tweeted his desire to fight Romero as well. While ‘Rolly’ looked forward to facing Garcia, hoping he would have the opportunity to face Gervonta Davis for the second time, Shakur Stevenson verbally thrashed ‘Rolly’.
In his latest interview, although he admitted ‘Rolly’ Romero’s ability to sell fights, Shakur Stevenson was of the opinion that “Rolly can’t fight“. Likewise, he branded Romero as “trash” and a “bum” while calling him “the biggest conman in boxing“. In addition, Stevenson chastised Romero, who in his opinion looked for a payday, and surprisingly addressed his own interest in fighting ‘Rolly’.

According to Stevenson, Romero is not serious about sharpening his boxing skills and lacks a sincere approach toward the sport. The former unified super featherweight champion feels Romero only cares about a “payday” and likewise calls out some of the biggest names in contemporary boxing. “Rolly is the biggest conman in boxing. I ain’t gonna lie, dude can sell a fight. He’s one of those dudes that can talk but nah, Rolly can’t fight. He trash, he a bum,” stated Shakur Stevenson in his interview with Say Cheese. In his opinion, ‘Rolly’ is looking for yet another payday. Stevenson believes ‘Tank’ was Romero’s “biggest payday” and now he is back looking for a boxer who can potentially help him earn a commendable figure in the sport. “When a bum talking to you, you know he just wants a payday. He looking for a big payday right now,” said Stevenson. With this, Stevenson also declared his own interest in fighting ‘Rolly’. ‘Fearless’ is of the opinion that if he and ‘Rolly’ shared the ring, “a lot of people would pay to see that“.
However, Stevenson also emphasized the difference between his skill set and Rolly’s. According to him, the Olympic silver medalist fighting ‘Rolly’ is equivalent to “me fighting a Pre-K student. Like my son get in there trying to fight me,” concluded Stevenson, who also felt Lomachenko was a victim of ‘robbery’ against Devin Haney.
