Cordeiro remarked, “I believe people don’t have to be concerned about it.” Talks suggest that the atypical fight might also be sanctioned by a body, which will be ‘Iron Mike’s first pro fight since his retirement in 2005. Interestingly, despite that, even if it is an exhibition bout, it is clear that no headgear will employed by either of the fighters. In light of these developments, fans have been worried that the fight might not be the best for Tyson given his age.
To reassure them, in conversation with Ariel Helwani, the Brazilian trainer explained, “He fought against the best guys in the world. When he step inside the ring he knows what to do. That’s not something new for Mike and this fight is no different. He work hard every single day to go there and try his best to knock Jake out from the beginning to the end. “

He added, “This is his style. Nobody has to teach Mike Tyson how to fight. He gonna prove in July, he still the same. You know you can see fire in his eyes when he play. He never going to be less than that. I truly believe it’s going to be a great show.”
Cordeiro was in the former heavyweight champion’s corner when he last fought Roy Jones Jr. in a 2020 exhibition matchup. As he prepares for a reckoning of sorts now, he seeks the association of the trainer yet again. In Cordiero’s portfolio, notable combat champions root their career. Anderson Silva and Mauricio Rua are some of them.
Fans’ fears are however justified. After all, it is not just age but also the condition Tyson suffers from that raises these concerns.

The biggest challenge yet for ‘the baddest man on the planet’
In his time, out of the 58 fights he undertook, Mike won 50 of them. The record reflects the tough challenges he’s overcome in terms of his opponents. Experience-wise, he has the upper hand over a 10-fight contender. However, at 57, coupled with the illness he is diagnosed with, Tyson will need to be ultra-mindful of his health.
In 2022, when pictures of him in a wheelchair emerged, the New York native revealed that he was diagnosed with Sciatica. It is a condition in which the pain travels along the sciatic nerve from the lower back down one or both legs to the feet. According to him, it is the only illness he suffers from. However, when it flares up, the pain is excruciating. In an interview, he mentioned, “When it flares up, I can’t even talk! Thank God it’s the only health problem I have.”
