Want to know what bad luck looks like? McLaren will answer that for you. Despite qualifying P9 for the Saudi Arabian GP, Oscar Piastri fell back the order due to a damaged front wing. To add to the bad luck, he was the man who took out his teammate, Lando Norris. The F1 circus has now entered its adventure in the land down under. And the rookie, who was favored by McLaren when they asked Norris to not fight him, got saucy giving a pre-race interview.

When Lando Norris said that McLaren’s rivalry with Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton piqued his interest in F1 and made the cool team his favorite, we didn’t think a day would come when he will stand on the verge of a low-key tussle at the same team. After the horrific weekend in Bahrain, Jeddah dreams came crashing down for both McLaren drivers when they grazed each other. And two weeks later, his teammate Oscar Piastri now remembers the incident with a sly smile.

Speaking to the press on the media day ahead of the Australian GP, Piastri seemed hopeful about the upcoming race. He said, “The layout is a bit more similar to Saudi compared to Bahrain so hopefully, that is good for us.”

However, he didn’t shy away from highlighting the incident that happened in the previous race. He said, “Saturday we showed we can get into Q3 and fight for the back end of points on our good days so hopefully,” Wearing a grin recalling the accident with Norris, he stated, “we can just have a clean race and my front wing doesn’t wipe out Lando this time and we’ll see what we can do.”

While a rivalry may be simmering at the iconic team struggling to score its first point of the campaign, another struggle awaits the Woking team.

The love of the home crowd can be overwhelming, especially if you have reached the apex of motor sporting. And Australians who lost their beloved Daniel Ricciardo from the grid, found another to cheer for in Oscar Piastri. And ahead of his home GP, the team has come up with a “bubble” hack to help him focus on the race.

As quoted by Speedcafe, the team’s TP, Andrea Stella, describing Piastri, said, “He is a very calm guy. I think he will be able to keep himself in the bubble.” He further added, “Certainly we’ll have to make sure that he can stay focused on the racing, and he stays focused on keeping up with this exceptional rate of development session after session.”
