Tensions ran high during the qualifying session at Silverstone as Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc found themselves entangled in a strategic maneuver that resulted in a heated exchange. During Q1, Sainz and Leclerc battled for track positions while occupying P4 and P3, respectively. Leclerc sarcastically praised Sainz for an overtaking maneuver, despite Leclerc being granted priority during the session. Sainz voiced his concerns, shedding light on Ferrari’s decision to prioritize Leclerc, leaving him feeling unruly and questioning the team’s approach.

Leclerc explained that the team had predetermined races where he had the priority to choose whether to be in front or behind and likewise for Sainz. This time, Leclerc opted to be in the lead. However, as the session neared its end and uncertainties arose, Sainz decided to overtake Leclerc to ensure he could complete a lap. Sainz highlighted the unfairness of sacrificing his tire temperature and expressed the higher risk he faced due to his lower position. Although the incident had no influence on the final outcome, it led to a tense radio exchange due to the adrenaline and pressure of the moment.

In the intense qualifying battle at Silverstone, Charles Leclerc managed to secure a slightly better position than Carlos Sainz, qualifying just fractions of a second ahead in Q3.
