Mexican driving sensation Sergio Perez suffered a neck injury in Canada! He had been in tremendous form until the Canadian GP and had even taken the flag in Monaco. There have been continuous podiums for the Red Bull driver, with many hailing him another contender for the 2022 World Title.
Contrary to Red Bull only backing Max Verstappen, they prepared themselves to back both drivers after Monaco. The team was clear that the championship is important, with either one of them winning a possibility. Safe to say, Perez’s second season has skillfully glued him to the car so well that he can even beat his teammate at times.

However, Checo has had his share of bad luck. He had an unfortunate crash in Q2 during the Canadian GP and had to start P13. The Mexican driver also injured his neck, but realized it only two days later. In an interview, he revealed, “The start of the week is always hard after such a bad day but I’m fine, recovering from my neck because I have a strong contracture after the crash, which I didn’t feel. It hurt a lot but in general, everything was fine.”

Sergio Perez is a serious title contender
Perez currently stands second on the table with 129 points in his bag. Despite yet another DNF, he remained ahead of Charles Leclerc. However, with Red Bull presenting strong performances each week, one won’t be surprised if he bounces back and pulls away from the Ferrari man.
Checo has driven the RB-18 absolutely skillfully. His pace on street circuits has even gotten him a pole position this season. Can he mount a challenge for the Driver’s Championship? Will his injury affect him at Silverstone?
