The Red Bull team had a disastrous race at the Bahrain Grand Prix. It was going all well for them as world champion Max Verstappen was running in P2 while Sergio Perez was in P4. But after the safety car restart, both drivers reported issues in their car and were later on forced to retire from the race.

The issues proved to be fatal as Verstappen retired from the race with just three laps to go. While Perez retired from the race on the last lap citing power unit issues. But the team is looking to bounce back at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix which would take place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit a.k.a. the fastest street circuit in F1.

It is reported that the team is going with different setups in their drivers’ cars. While Max would have a high downforce rear wing, Sergio will have less downforce rear wing at the back of his car.

It would be interesting to see if by going with two different setups, Red Bull can get both cars on the podium. The Jeddah track does have more high and medium-speed corners. And the high downforce setup can give Max the confidence to attack the corners.

Horner disappointed with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s results

As reported by Motorsport.com, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner revealed he was very upset with the Bahrain GP results. Going into the race, the Austrian team was the odds-on favorite for the win. But they missed out on the pole position by about one-tenth of a second from Ferrari.

But it all went downhill as they finished with zero points at the end of the race. Horner stated the results are a nightmare for the team.

“I can’t remember the last time that happened to us, but it’s obviously your worst nightmare. It’s hugely disappointing, not only to lose a podium with Max but on the last lap to lose a podium with Checo as well,” said Horner.

It would be interesting to see what changes the Austrian team will bring to overcome their issues. They really cannot have another Bahrain-like weekend, as they would massively fall back in the championship. Let’s hope that the team can have a better weekend, challenging Ferrari for the win in Jeddah.
