It is an undisputed fact that every year, Formula 1 fields the crème de la crème when it comes to the drivers on the grid. But due to an inherent characteristic of the formula itself, the debate about who is the best of them all can never be answered. Well, at least until we have equal cars for all 20 drivers! Currently, the top pick for anyone would have to be out of the trifecta of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and Max Verstappen. But who would actually prevail?
Arguably, this debate is a never-ending one. However, Sky Sports F1 pundit and ex-racing driver, Danica Patrick has tried to resolve this riddle once and for all. And as far as the 41-year-old Wisconsin native is concerned, 7x champion, Hamilton has the odds stacked up against him.

Patrick has carved a niche out for herself for her polarizing views. Even the LH Army would not be pleased to hear what Patrick has to say on the topic of a straight fight between the trio of Alonso, Verstappen, and Hamilton.

On a recent episode of the Sky Sports F1 Podcast, Patrick theorized the eventuality of having the trio strapped into the RB19. She began, “It’s pretty tough for me to not think about Fernando Alonso. When you apply all the styles, that would be a pretty great duo right there between Max [Verstappen] and [Fernando] Alonso.”
On the contrary, Patrick believes that Hamilton may not be able to match the two on pure pace. Rather, he’ll have to sit patiently waiting for a lucky break. She continued, “Obviously he [Lewis Hamilton] has had so much success with all of his championships. But I think that he might be really close right there especially when you take into the race consideration; the length of it.”
“He’s just so consistent, he doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. So, he’d be snatching the lead when those two are going at it.”

What Max Verstappen has been doing this season is downright terrifying. And if he can keep this trajectory up, he might even distinguish himself as the greatest driver this sport has ever seen, and comprehensively so. But while the Dutch lion’s exploits on track speak for themselves, his boss Christian Horner chose to add a mighty dollop of some praise to it all.
Horner was quoted by Sports Illustrated as saying, “I never look too far ahead, but for me, Max is way above the rest in Formula 1. There are only two drivers in Formula 1 who are halfway to the level of Verstappen, which are [Charles] Leclerc and [Lewis] Hamilton.”
