Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez cruised through the Belgium GP at Spa as the Red Bull drivers finished 1-2. Max Verstappen won his 9th race of the season. Meanwhile, Mercedes struggled with their W13 yet again, as George Russell finished the race in P4 while Lewis Hamilton was out in the first lap itself.

As Red Bull secured a convincing victory, Helmut Marko took a dig at Toto Wolff. Despite the new technical directives, Red Bull gained an advantage over their competitors. Toto Wolff had consistently pushed for these directives to reduce porpoising throughout the season.

However, instead of gaining on their nemesis, Red Bull, their plan backfired, and they were left worse off than where they were before the summer break. Lewis Hamilton was a mind-boggling 1.8s behind Max Verstappen in qualifying, while Russell finished Sunday’s race 29s behind the winner.

Marko said, “Maybe we will have to change something about the chassis because of Toto’s new guidelines. They worked very well this weekend! We thank him. It seems that Mercedes have fallen back even further!”

It was Red Bull’s fourth 1-2 of the season, as Sergio Perez clinched the second position ahead of Carlos Sainz. With Red Bull’s speed in Spa, it’s hard to fathom anyone challenging them for Constructors as well as the Drivers championship.

Max Verstappen also takes a sly dig at Mercedes

Max Verstappen was in a thankful mood, as he gave Mercedes the credit for further improving their RB-18. Red Bull’s speed surprised everybody in the Spa as they asserted their dominance at the top of the championship.

Max said, “That technical directive has been very, very bad for us. As I said before, I didn’t expect it to make much difference to our car.”
