Block mentioned that at the event, Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy were paired together, and they were a few groups ahead or behind him.It was ten deep on every hole I played. I shot 73 with everyone there. My GM even said that was you not being a club pro anymore,” said Block.

The PGA professional mentioned that it was sharing a course with these pros that instilled in him the sense in him that he belonged on the course and that he too could perhaps achieve greatness. And now, at his fifth appearance at the PGA Championship, he just might!

The 46-year-old has appeared in 24 PGA Tour events in his career so far and has made the cut in four of them. He works as the head PGA professional at his home club, Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, in Mission Viejo, California. His current performance has by far been his best, and that reflects in the names he currently stands above on the leaderboard, like Jon Rahm. When that realization hit, the PGA pro even got emotional at the major and went viral for it!

Block has quickly become a fan favorite at the second major tournament. During his interview, a moderator informed him about beating Rahm by six shots. The 46-year-old was completely unaware of his feat. After hearing the news, he got a bit emotional and shed a few tears of joy. “I don’t know why that makes me emotional, but it does,” he stated.

The Californian golfer is currently, after the third round, tied at T8 with Justin Suh. Following the third round, the 46-year-old golfer is still six strokes ahead of Rahm, who currently sits T-42 on the leaderboard. Moreover, he also has a massive lead on big names like the LIV Golf star, Phil Mickelson, over whom he has a 10-stroke lead!
