‘Triple C’ retired following a TKO stoppage of Dominick Cruz in the 2 round of the co-headliner. Cejudo’s Retirement came as a surprise, since he was talking about other different match-ups not too long before.

He was coming off 3 spectacular title fights in two different weight classes. Just when it seemed as though ‘The king of Cringe’ was primed for possibly the most illustrious resume in MMA, he decided to walk away. However, it is undebatable that he left the sport on top.

Dana White posited multiple reasons for his surprising decision.”This guy has been a professional athlete his entire life. I think he’s tired of cutting weight”.

Questions surrounded the timing of the former champion’s retirement amongst the media and fans. There was a consideration that the retirement was being used as a ploy for contract negotiations.

This was quickly dismissed as Cejudo vacated the bantamweight title and released an official statement in the following days.

Dana White has remained firm in his stance that fighters should retire the moment they seriously begin to consider it. Speaking on this matter, he said, “Everybody wants to make it a money issue. Ask Henry what he made in his last fight if he wants to tell you.

“If he wants to tell you ask him what he actually made. I think you’ll realize that it probably wasn’t a money issue.”

Dana White has had hundreds of fighters on the roster over the years. It appears as though Cejudo’s untimely departure does very little to stop the forward moment of the organization. Although it seems as though White has moved on, Henry Cejudo hasn’t closed the door on a potential return for the right fights.
