Tony Stewart goes ballistic as he slams NASCAR for its inadequacy
Lately, the sanctioning body has been facing the community’s wrath for its inconsistent ways. With many coming out with their open criticisms, the fans are certainly alarmed these days. What has created all this mess is arguably NASCAR’s hasty penalty spree!
And guess what? Smoke did not hesitate to express his blunt thoughts, with the Hendrick Motorsports‘ penalty debacle and their successful appeal in the background. The 51-year-old had some sharp criticism for the organization when his host, Wallace, asked him, “Tech inspection with these new Next-Gen cars and the penalties. What’s your opinion on this?”
Starting off his take, Stewart said, “The bad thing is, I have an opinion about it, I have a very strong opinion about it,” reflecting on NASCAR’s inconsistent penalty system and the brief conversation with the likes of Chris Myers and Clint Bowyer at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“It was discussed about you know the Hendrick saga of getting penalized and losing points and crew chiefs suspended and then they win the appeal and then the next week 2 more cars go back and uh windshield screw gets cut off and they lose all these points again for a windshield screw that got cut off.”
“So um yeah I had, this is the part that I really hate about the sport right now and this is what frustrates me about NASCAR right now. Yeah I do have an opinion about uh how they’re doing things,” said the semi-retired driver, venting out his frustrations.
Furthermore, Stewart also shares his position as a team co-owner.

Even Denny Hamlin faced the heat as he was fined after his open admission about wrecking Ross Chastain. While HMS successfully reinstated its points following their successful appeal, shortly after Phoenix, NASCAR again levied penalties on Alex Bowman‘s team and his teammate, William Byron‘s #24 team for windshield modifications at Richmond!
A disappointed Stewart voiced his displeasure with the organization’s stance, stating how his own words might be used against him. He shared his worry, “I’m scared to voice it because NASCAR has shown now you can’t have an opinion. You can have an opinion, but keep your mouth shut is basically the moral of the story.“
