If there’s something that Tony Stewart loves more than his drag racing queen/wife, Leah Pruett, it’s probably racing. Even before HMS sensation Kyle Larson ascended the throne, winning it in dirt tracks and asphalt races, Stewart, aka “Smoke,” was causing all the smoke in the racing world, irrespective of discipline or factions. Be it a stock, open-wheel, midget, or even sprint car, Tony Stewart could race them all only to win multiple races, becoming an icon, the jack of all trades.

While the 3-time Cup Series champion currently has his sights set on the drag strip, eyeing the NHRA title as he looks to resurrect his Cup Series team, Stewart-Haas Racing, to get them back on track, the veteran dropped a new avowal, revealing his “all-time favorite car.”

The 52-year-old lives and breathes racing so much that even after he retired from the NASCAR circle, he channeled his efforts, putting in the time to transition into the world of drag racing in NHRA drag strips. Put him in a race car, and most likely he will shine through, showing his versatility as a driver.

Besides his 62 career wins in the stock car racing world, amassing 49 of them in Cup, 11 in Xfinity, and two in the Truck Series, Tony Stewart is also a seasoned midget racing veteran with an exceptional USAC track record of 27 career wins. He used to be a frequent and well-known presence on dirt tracks, appearing regularly at ARCA races on dirt. Recently, the SHR boss man revealed his favorite car to race and his favorite track to run it on.

He said, “I think my all-time favorite car is still a midget and my favorite place to run a midget is the Chilli Bowl. I mean that track is suited perfectly for these cars and creates a lot of excitement, your car is right, it is a blast around there, so it is still my favorite car and my favorite track.”

2023 certainly wasn’t what Tony Stewart or his drivers had in their minds. Kevin Harvick did not expect such a heartbreak, bidding farewell to the sport without a win. Not just this, SHR’s entire 2023 campaign was a shocker for Ford fans as the once-prominent team ended their campaign without a single win, even with four cars and potent drivers on the grid.

Things got even worse when Aric Almirola announced his switch to a part-time role, changing his base to Joe Gibbs Racing. After roping in Noah Gragson and Josh Berry in the #10 and #4 cars, respectively, Tony Stewart hinted at a relentless approach that would get them moving. In the YouTube video uploaded by his team at SHR, he said, “Being relentless to me means you’re always striving to be better. You’re always wanting more, even when you win. There’s times when you come back to the shop and we’re like, We could’ve done this better.” 

“People go, but you just won. Yeah, but we could have been better. I think that’s what relentless is about. You are just never satisfied with what you’ve done. You never lose sight of what the goal is and the passion behind it. You are just constantly striving forward and pushing harder,” said the veteran, signaling the grand return of the SHR Fords.
