It is well known throughout the NBA community that Draymond Green is an integral part of the Warriors lineup. His rebounding, defense, and playmaking have been crucial parts of the Warriors’ gameplay. To cite his impact, this season, the Warriors are 14-11 in Draymond’s absence. In comparison, they are 28-6 whenever he has suited up for the franchise.

Clearly, he has a recognizable impact on the team. This is especially true this season as the Warriors have rebooted themselves as a powerhouse since Kevin Durant’s departure.

Speaking of Durant, when he joined the team, the Warriors looked unbeatable on paper. And they also converted the hype into reality. With KD on the squad, the team won 2 titles in 3 years. However, a spat between KD and Green resulted in the former departing the franchise. Similar to the tensions between the aforementioned duo, Draymond revealed another story where he had endured a rift with Harrison Barnes.

“Harrison Barnes, I think to this day still don’t like me for KD coming here,” said Draymond.

“And the reality is bruh, I didn’t tell him to trade you to bring KD in. The reality is, if KD did come in and you were still here, you would have had to come off the bench. It’s f**king Kevin Durant. It is what is,” explained Green.

In Conclusion

Although Kevin Durant joined the Warriors in the summer of 2016, one can never say for sure that the Warriors would never achieve success without Durant. With Barnes on the squad, the franchise had already been to the finals twice and had won the title once.

However, with Durant on the squad, the team was stronger than ever. In fact, he even won the Finals MVP award on the two occasions that the Warriors won with him. Hence, although Draymond still endures tensions with Barnes, the addition of KD worked well for the Warriors.
