The first Western Conference play-in game did not disappoint the fans. The matchup between Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers turned out to be one of the most thrilling games this season. Though Karl-Anthony Towns gave it his all to bag a spot in the playoffs, LeBron James and co. did not let the Timberwolves get away with it. However, AD’s defensive blunder, with a few seconds left, sent a shiver down the spine of the Lakers fans as it almost cost them the game.
Anyhow, the 6’10 center managed to earn back the fans’ respect in overtime. The NBA buffs are now eager to watch one of the most awaited matchups between the Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.

Missing out on the playoffs the last season, the Lakers did not upset their fans this time. Trailing by 15 points in the third quarter, James and the Lakers gave out a clutch performance to seal a playoff spot. However, the game stands out as one of the most dramatic ones this season.

After LeBron James‘ game-tying shot late in the fourth quarter, Schroder went on to hit a go-ahead three to make the home crowd go crazy. However, the joy did not last long after AD uncharacteristically fouled Mike Conley at the three-point line. The former Jazz guard hit three clutch free throws to send the game to overtime. However, LeBron James’ 30-point showdown and a combined effort by the Lakers in OT helped them edge past the Timberwolves.

Anthony Davis who ruined Schroder’s game-winner, went on to apologize to his teammate in the post-game interview. The eight-time All-Star mentioned, “I messed his game-winner up, I apologize. I definitely apologize” after James called out AD’s “brain fart” late in the fourth quarter. After being subjected to criticism all year, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have finally proved themselves by making it to the postseason.

Even AD himself admitted that it was a “brain fart” moment. He said, “My brain fart at the end almost cost us the game.” Luckily, it didn’t end up costing the Lakers as they now turn their attention towards the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Lakers will face the Grizzlies in one of the most-awaited match-ups
As the Timberwolves continue to battle for a spot in the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers have bagged a chance in the postseason as they will now face Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. Considering the previous faceoffs between the two teams this season, fans have all their eyes on the first-round battle between LeBron James and Ja Morant.
After several hard battles over the past couple of years, the two teams will finally get a chance to prove their worth when it matters most. While the Lakers are coming into the postseason on the back of a great run, the Grizzlies are no pushovers. If anyone thinks it’ll be a walk in the park for either team, they’re surely in for a surprise.
