Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are visiting the White House this Tuesday. They will meet the POTUS, Joe Biden, as the 2022 NBA Champions. The last time the Warriors visited the president’s residence was back in 2016 during Barack Obama’s term. Despite adding two more titles and a dynastic legacy, the team refused to visit the White House during President Donald Trump’s reign. However, with the new President in office and as the defending champions, the Warriors are heading back to 1600 Pennsylvania avenue.

Though dub nation celebrated their team’s achievement, many fans on social media wondered why the Warriors were not called sometime after June of last year when they beat the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. Consequently, fans also proceeded to roast the POTUS.

Stephen Curry and the Dubs visit White House as fans troll Joe Biden

On Tuesday afternoon, the reigning Finals MVP and the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, were invited to visit the White House. The last time they were there, they had beaten LeBron James and the Cavaliers to mark the first championship of their dynasty. However, that visit came during the 44th POTUS Barack Obama’s term. But when Donald Trump took office, Curry and the Warriors declined the invitations despite adding another 2x titles to their names.

Fast forward to today, and with a new POTUS in office, the 2x MVP and his team are back in the White House. Standing on a podium for the press briefing, Curry said, “Thank you President Biden, Vice President Harris, for the invitation to come here. It’s something that we don’t ever take for granted. Seven years ago, I believe, we were here last celebrating our first championship, and now back to celebrating our fourth. So to have the opportunity to reflect on accomplishments of last year, to bring everybody together, celebrate that, to also acknowledge the play sports has to bring people together from all walks of life.”

However, their visit has left fans wondering why there was a delay of more than six months. The Warriors bested the Celtics in a thrilling six-game series to win the 2021-22 NBA championship in June of last year. Consequently, with their political associations and other factors influencing them, many fans showered their jokes at the expense of POTUS Joe Biden for the uncalled delay.

Here are some fan reactions:

“Make sure Biden knows what sport y’all play; he’s kinda slow 😭”
Someone said they at a nursing home😭
Congratulations to the Golden Girls Baseball team for their Super Bowl Championship-President Biden
Hope Biden doesn’t have a senior moment and think Wilt Chamberlain still on the team
“Biden gonna forget their names before they leave. Guaranteed 😂”
“Biden probably forgot that they were gonna be there”
“love my squad 🔥🔥🙌🙌”
“look at curry man”
Draymond gonna record a podcast at the White House 😂😂😂😂😂”
Though fans roasted Biden, many dub nation fans also rooted for their team and celebrated the accomplishment from last year.

The Warriors’ struggle this season

Though the Warriors came out on top last year, they have massively underdelivered on their expectations as defending champs this season. They have struggled all season with one of the worst away records in the league (5-17). They currently rank in the 7th position of the Western Conference table with an underwhelming record of 22-22.
However, with the return of Stephen Curry after a shoulder injury, the Warriors have improved their record by winning six out of the last ten games. But they still have a long way to go.
