The Memphis Grizzlies are in an excellent position given their 19-11 record for the season so far. The Grizzlies are currently second in the Western Conference, despite losing their last two matchups. So, for Ja Morant to be confident in himself and his team is hardly surprising. Yet fans on social media felt otherwise, calling out Morant on his recent bold claims.
The Grizzlies have developed an excellent young core in the past few years. And it isn’t just Ja Morant or Jaren Jackson Jr. Players like Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks have arguably elevated their game this season. Furthermore, Morant has been putting up record-breaking performances.

Why is this arrogance feeling more common in the NBA? Teams that don’t even make the finals talk like they are the team to beat.

Morant counting out Stephen Curry and the Warriors
Ja Morant’s claim goes to show the confidence he has in himself and his team this season. They have certainly been on a roll as of late, but for Morant to count out some of the best teams in the West, specifically the reigning NBA champions, may have been going too far for some fans. Notably, though, the Golden State Warriors are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Western Conference table.

But to count out Stephen Curry and the Warriors, who defied all odds to win the NBA championship last season, is arguably a risky thing to do. Even though Curry is out with an injury right now, the Warriors will likely be in playoff contention at the end of the season.
