Tonight, the NBA world witnessed the top two teams from the Eastern Conference play against each other. The Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks have shown their dominance and strength throughout this season. Antetokounmpo was arguably bested by Tatum tonight. The ‘Greek Freak’ could only put up 27 points and 9 rebounds. However, what could have been an insult to injury was Tatum dunking on the two-time MVP.

Fans lauded Tatum for his monstrous dunk. As Yahoo Sports succinctly put it, “Jayson Tatum ordered a poster for Christmas, it appears“. Trae Young tweeted with a laughing emoji, “JT has really dunked on a lot of people“. Even Tatum spoke about his play, “The Bucks are a big physical team. If you lay it up, they are probably gonna block it“.

In the second quarter, Jayson Tatum got the pass and held the ball. He tricked his opponents to get a clean throw over to Marcus Smart. He in turn passed it back to Tatum over the paint, who leaped to the basket and dunked. Tatum ensured the ball went in by hanging on to the rim, as Giannis Antetokounmpo attempted to block the shot. Antetokounmpo himself seemed shocked and was visibly having a hard time digesting Tatum’s play.

The Christmas charm continues for the Celtics

As the Milwaukee Bucks suffered back-to-back losses, the Boston Celtics had a great game on their Christmas day matchup.  Jayson Tatum’s performance was notable for more than just the poster dunk, as the “41-point performance was the second highest scoring output in Boston’s 36-game Christmas history, trailing only Tom Heinsohn’s 45-point outpour in 1961”.

Sixth year in a row (playing on Christmas), and something I never want to take for granted.
