Ever since this season’s playoffs commenced, the Miami Heat has been sending heatwaves across the NBA. The eighth-seeded Heat began their iconic playoff run by ousting the top-seeded Bucks. The Miami side then went on to eliminate the Knicks in the Conference Semi-Finals. At the heart of the Heat’s playoff dominance is their centerpiece Jimmy Butler’s exploits. Butler and co. have now outsmarted the mighty Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Moments after the win, Butler gave a strong message to the folks who often overlook his team’s prowess.

The Heat’s current post-season story is one for the history books. It might be one of the best underdog stories in the NBA. While Jimmy Butler took pride in that story, one of his teammates has also gone candid about overcoming adversities to become the Conference Finalists.

Jimmy Butler led the Heat against the Boston Celtics in Game 1 with 35 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Butler exploited the Celtics as a Boston crowd watched. Following the triumph, a reporter asked Butler if he ever thought his side will see the Conference Finals after struggling in the play-in tournament. The 33-year-old replied that he indeed thought that the Heat will come this far. “And the best part about it is we still don’t care what none of y’all think… We don’t care if you pick us to win,” Butler said.

Following Jimmy Butler’s outrage, Heat’s Bam Adebayo went candid on his side battling all the odds. “Everybody counted us out from the beginning was kind of [what] builds that chip. But also the adversity we’ve been through the whole season, the ups and downs, the games we have won but didn’t win… Now I feel like we are one of the best teams in the league just because adversity built this,” said Bam Adebayo. Adebayo’s strong words come after he closely followed Jimmy Butler with 2o points in the triumphant Game 1.
