“It happens you know. Missing shots that I normally make. But like I said, I don’t really keep making it about me,” said Westbrook.
“When I play bad, you guys ask me a sh*t ton of questions, and then when I shoot the ball well, I don’t really hear too many of those questions. So I don’t want to keep making it about me and what I’m doing,” he explained.
Thereafter, he added that the most important thing for him was the victory regardless of how he played and that any player can have an ‘off-night.’
Russell Westbrook this Season
Expectations on Westbrook and the Lakers have been huge since the very beginning of the season. Despite going winless in the pre-season, Laker fans still believed in their big three of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook. However, as the season has progressed, Westbrook has experienced plenty of criticism. In fact, against the Knicks, he shot 1 of 10 from the field, thereby causing fans to boo him. It appeared as though the former MVP had lost his confidence during the game.

With scoring and shooting being Westbrook’s kryptonite this season, what has stood out for him is his passing. Westbrook’s assists have created 1059 points for the Lakers, and this number is the 5th highest in the NBA. Moreover, this number, when combined with the points he has scored, has contributed to 34.3% of the total points scored by the Lakers this season.
Despite Russ’ poor performance over the Knicks, Laker fans should still back their point guard. And maybe, Russ will be able to turn things around as soon as he gets his confidence back. With the support from the fans and the Lakers squad, success is still possible this season.
