The biggest talk of the NBA today will be the abrupt brawl between the Wolves and Dub Nation. The heat is on Draymond Green for the more aggressive act in the altercation. TNT was not going to miss reacting to this incident which came during the Wolves’ 104-101 win over the Warriors. Charles Barkley was trying to take the high ground. That was until his frenemy pulled him back down with a cheeky flashback.

The Round Mound of Rebound has come a long way from his hotheaded era. But the TNT crew is adept at not letting him forget his dark past.

Before the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors game even saw its first buckets, things got off to an ugly start. Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels got into a shoving match less than two minutes into the first quarter. Rudy Gobert broke the fight, getting McDaniels farther and holding Thompson in place. Suddenly, the Frenchman found himself in a headlock by Draymond Green.

Thompson and McDaniels were ejected on technical fouls. Green was sent out after getting slapped with a level 2 flagrant foul. The fallout was the discussions of consequences and reactions to it. Naturally, the Inside the NBA crew wasn’t going to leave it be.

The Warriors sportscasting booth said that Green acted out to defend Thompson from Gobert. Barkley found it unjustified. “He’s just holdin’ him,” Chuck contested about the interaction between Klay and Rudy. It was too quick to see if Gobert had been aggressive with Thompson.

Sir Charles disagreed that Gobert manhandled Klay in any way. That’s when his bestie, Shaquille O’Neal swooped in with a reminder. “You did the same thing,” Shaq taunted him as they saw the exact footage of Chuck’s blast from the past on screen.

Leave it to the hard workers of TNT to always have dirt on Barkley ready live. One of his most epic on-court clashes was in 1984.

The 76ers, with rookie Barkley, were against the Larry Bird-led Celtics. Things got heated when Bird and Dr. J came to blows. And Barkley defended his actions from that time too.

The show revived the images from 1984 when Barkley was in the same position as Gobert.

In the melee, Barkley and Moses Malone jumped in. Chuck got Bird in a somewhat messy chokehold and Malone had Julius Erving in a headlock. Chuck brought this up on Inside the NBA before and he’s reliving it again.

He said he got away with consequences because he was only “holding” Bird and trying to break up a fight. And he’s extending that courtesy to Gobert. Later on Shaq shows him what a real chokehold feels like.

The discussion is now about Draymond Green’s possible consequences. However, do you agree with Chuck’s defense of Rudy Gobert?

One take at a time

I was 7 when I saw 'Space Jam' but didn't know till the third rewatch the lead actor is actually a living basketball legend. It was while studying journalism that my friend would go on about the Warriors from Golden State. Keen on athletes' personas outside their arenas, it was Stephen Curry's confidence and philanthropy that drew me to follow the news on NBA pros and explore sports media.
