Baker Mayfield, the big-chested Texan is the starting QB for Bucs this coming season. However, he has big shoes to fill. Since the retirement of NFL legend Tom Brady, no one has been able to consolidate the position. The 28-year-old 2018 PFWA All-Rookie Team winner was picked over third-year pro, Kyle Trask. Speaking about the same, coach Todd Bowles said “Baker’s our starting quarterback. Kyle’s No. 2″.

The coach dived deeper into the reasoning stating “There’s a lot that goes into it. I can’t sit up here and give you every detail. We go through minicamps, training camps, and OTAs and we love everything Kyle’s done. He’s gotten leaps and bounds better than in the spring and he’s continuing to get better and we’re excited about him.” Mayfield too feels he’s in a good headspace and is looking to lead the position with the coach’s backing.
