The Cleveland Browns brought in Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans earlier in the offseason. Despite his off-the-field issues, the franchise offered him a massive contract. They see him as their franchise quarterback. However, all of that could have been very close to not happening.

A new report has emerged that claims that the Browns were interested in another quarterback before pursuing Watson. The Cleveland Browns were interested in bringing in former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson, who opted to join the Broncos instead, apparently didn’t want to play in Cleveland.

Russell Wilson was on his way out of Seattle. Multiple teams were interested in him, but the Denver Broncos were able to lure him. It was no secret that the Browns were looking way past Baker Mayfield as their quarterback.

Bringing in Wilson could have been a very good decision by the team. However, they had to settle with Deshaun Watson, who is also a great quarterback. Watson is younger than Wilson, which is why he may turn out to be the better deal for the Browns. Hopefully, he’ll be able to play soon.

With his possible suspension looming large, Deshaun Watson might not be able to make his Browns debut for some time. There is no assurance about the number of games he is likely to be suspended for by the league. As a result, the franchise has a tough job on its hands.

The start of the season is going to be tough for the Browns. It is expected that Jacoby Brissett will be the starting quarterback until Watson is back. He might be able to fill the void, but he isn’t Watson.

The roster of the franchise is pretty good. They need a solid quarterback, and Deshaun Watson is the man to lead this team. The Browns’ fans can only hope that the suspension isn’t much longer, as it could spoil their whole season.
