Golf is one of the most popular sports in the world. Not just professionally, but there are millions of recreational golfers who play the sport just for fun. Since there are no age restrictions in golf, anyone from a 3-year-old toddler to an 80-year-old veteran can play the game. Hence, golf has an incredible fan following.

However, the situation in the 90s was a bit different. Most people considered golf as a boring sport that required no athletic abilities. Just then, arrived a man named Tiger Woods, who completely changed the sport’s image with his insane golfing skills. Today, he is one of the main reasons why golf is becoming a global sport.

However, there is always an ongoing debate around fans regarding the best golfing decade. Few people feel the 2000s were the best, while others think it was the 2010s.

Which was the best golfing decade among the 2000s and 2010s?

In the past two decades, golf, as a sport, has seen immense growth. But if we compare both the decades, which would be the best decade for golf, is still an enormous question. If we talk about the 2000s decade, Tiger Woods mainly dominated it for at least the initial four to five years.

We saw peak Tiger Woods in this decade and witnessed some insane performances. However, when it comes to the 2010 decade, we saw a plethora of incredible golfers like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, and others. But again, none of them could match Tiger’s dominance.

If we have to choose a decade, it has to be the 2000s. In this decade, golf had immense growth just because of Tiger Woods. He brought in more viewership, popularity, and sponsorships to the game. It was in this decade that golf became a global sport. Moreover, plenty of people started following and playing the sport.

However, we cannot deny that the 2010s decade gave us some incredible players, and it wasn’t like one player was dominating the game. Hence, these decades have their own importance and contribution to the sport.
