Paris Saint Germain had a star-studded attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbappe. Also known as the MNM, the front three managed to make a decent name, but failed to establish their dominance in Europe. As of today, the threesome is no longer together. A PSG icon once slammed Mbappe for not understanding his fellow strike partners.

As of today, only Mbappe is the one who remained at PSG, with Messi moving to Inter Miami and Neymar signing for Al Hilal. But coming back, why did the PSG icon, who spent 222 days in jail, point fingers at the Frenchman?

Sadly, PSG failed in their attempt to be a phenomenal attacking force throughout Europe. Despite having Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe at their disposal, the Parisians couldn’t win their long-awaited Champions League title. While there’s still no definite answer for the trio’s failure, the club’s iconic player Dani Alves blames Mbappe for the cause.

Earlier, the Brazilian full-back once vocally slammed the Frenchman for not understanding his fellow attacking buddies. While speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport and as stated by BFM RMC Sport, he said, “A big player must always know and understand with whom he is playing. His teammates enrich his qualities. Mbappé is a phenomenon, who hasn’t yet understood that his attack partners are more phenomenal than him.”

Alves insisted that Neymar and Messi are “unique”, and they both “see and do things that no one else can do.” He continued, “You have to be smart to make the most of their potential. These are two genies of football. I think I can touch the ball well, but when I played with Leo, I gave him the ball and if I play with Ney, I give him the ball.” The former right back then made a huge claim: “If Mbappé gave the ball to those two, he would score 150 goals.”

Indeed, these were some bold claims made by the PSG icon. His words wouldn’t have settled well with the Frenchman. But Mbappe hasn’t responded yet. Meanwhile speaking of Alves, why has he been in jail for 222 days?

Why is Dani Alves in jail?

This year, Alves found himself incarcerated by a Barcelona court due to allegations of sexual assault. He has been behind bars for several months while the case has been ongoing. After the accusations emerged, the Brazilian himself acknowledged having been in a sexual relationship with the accuser. Though he vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged assault earlier.

According to reports, Alves was taken aback by these allegations and remains hopeful that justice will prevail. His legal proceedings are expected to unfold later this year or early in 2024. Meanwhile, his wife Joana Sanz allegedly terminated his association with Alves due to the extramarital affair. For now, the former defender must serve his time in prison.
