Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid appears to be on the cards. With the final six months remaining on his contract, the Frenchman is certain to bid adieu to the Parisians. While many Madrid fans anticipate his arrival and see him fill the void left by ex-Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary name Guti, has infused a note of contradiction and conflict into the story, insisting that ‘Mbappe is not comparable‘ to CR7.

The Ronaldo-Real Madrid legacy is one for the history books. However, as the Los Blancos fraternity sees Mbappe’s arrival as the perfect CR7 replacement after years, Guti claims the PSG star isn’t even close to Cristiano Ronaldo. Speaking on a segment of El Chiringuito TV, he boldly asserted, When Cristiano arrived [at Real Madrid], he did so with a Golden Ball and a Champions League under his arm.”

Guti highlighted that Cristiano Ronaldo had won the biggest and most respected collective and individual trophies at Manchester United, which, sadly, Mbappe has failed to achieve with both Monaco and PSG. “Mbappe is not comparable to him,” added the Spanish veteran. While Guti remains impressed with CR7’s success, he should honestly cut some slack for the Frenchman. Mainly because he won the 2018 FIFA World Cup as a 19-year-old, which, ironically, Ronaldo still dreams of.

Likewise, even if Mbappe decides to leave PSG, he’ll be signing off as a club legend. The 25-year-old has already written his name in the Parisians’ history books. He has become the club’s top scorer with 237 goals, overtaking Edinson Cavani’s tally of 200. Either way, these were some bold claims from Guti. Interestingly, the former Spanish international believes instead of Mbappe, another Los Blancos star will overtake Cristiano Ronaldo’s glory.

Just like all Real Madrid fans, Guti is also impressed with the arrival of Jude Bellingham. He thinks the midfield player has discovered something crucial that others have not yet discovered[Bellingham] is the only one that’s realized there’s a throne that’s no longer for Messi or Cristiano and that someone has to be there…He’s going after it,” he said.

Notably, Bellingham has been running quite a show at Santiago Bernabeu. The 20-year-old has shown remarkable attacking prowess so far, bagging 17 goals and five assists in 23 games across all competitions. He is currently the top scorer in La Liga with 13 goals. Indeed, these numbers are quite phenomenal, suggesting that Bellingham is on the course to etch his name in the history books.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
