France’s 20-year-old, Hugo Gaston, made it to the front pages of French journals and newspapers after dispatching the three-time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka, in the third round of French Open 2020. In the subsequent round, Gaston set up his pre-quarterfinal match against two-time Roland Garros finalist, Dominic Thiem, and elated his home crowd with his staggering drop shots and accuracy on the Court Philippe-Chatrier.
However, despite all his phenomenal efforts, he lost 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 3-6, 6-3 to a relentless Dominic Thiem.
The reigning US Open champion was sprinting back and forth throughout his match to respond to all the incisive drop shots by Gaston. Consequently, for the next 48 hours, Dominic will spend time on his recovery and recuperate from the three hours and 30 minutes of tussle on Sunday evening.

“I’m not running on a full tank anymore. That’s for sure. So I try to recover as good as I can. If I’m able to do that, it’s going to be an exciting match. If not, if somehow I don’t make it until Tuesday, I think he’s going to be the heavy favorite,” Thiem said of Schwartzman.
