‘The American Gangster’ mentioned that nobody expected the UFC president to call for a fight after the scuffle between Fury and Jones went viral on social media. However, he believes that Dana White bluffed his interest to set up a fight. He said, “Dana said, ‘I’ll do it’. Dana said, ‘I will pay him the money’. We don’t even know what that number is… You could not have a bluff call any more than this.”

Furthermore, Sonnen believes that Tyson Fury may have realized Dana White’s intentions. This is what led him to get quiet about the situation, although Jon Jones still hasn’t been able to process what is happening yet. Sonnen added, “Tyson realizes that. I told you, Jon Jones, doesn’t know what I’m saying. Tyson Fury does, which is why he went real quiet, real fast.”

UFC legend wants Jon Jones to take initiative

The former 3-time UFC title challenger urged Jon Jones to step up and keep the conversation of a fight with Fury alive. Sonnen said, “To keep this alive and make this anything, Jon has gotta go out there and bang this drum.” The real problem with the UFC champion is that he doesn’t realize that such fights are rare to come by, according to ‘The American Gangster’. He added, “The problem there is Jon doesn’t know that’s unusual. He doesn’t know that never happened before.”

Moreover, Chael Sonnen suggests that ‘Bones’ should look at what Conor McGregor did in his fight against Floyd Mayweather and learn something from him. “He actually doesn’t know the history of the Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather fight, and he’s not going to do any of those things,” said the UFC legend. He claims that this is a big match and nobody is taking it seriously. Sonnen added, “I think that it’s a massive opportunity that’s going to waste.”
