Alexander Volkanovski Approves Rival Conor McGregor’s Advise Ahead of Double Champ Move Against Islam Makhachev Possibly at UFC 284

Alexander Volkanovski competes in the featherweight division in the UFC, where he is the current featherweight champion. He is also the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. ‘The Great’ was also named the MMA Fighter of the Year for 2022. His powerful career stats stand at 25-1-0 and it speaks volumes. Volkanovski recently got into a Twitter battle with Conor McGregor.

After Islam Makhachev won the belt at UFC 280, there is a reasonable probability of Volkanovski fighting against Makhachev soon. ‘The Notorious’ saw the funny side and wrote on Twitter. He said only ten people would pay to watch that fight.

Conor McGregor told Volkanovski that he “be a bowling ball“. Alexander has seen some merit in McGregor’s advice. The Australian plans to go around weight divisions. He is training to go up to the lightweight division. He can meet Conor McGregor as a potential match-up in this division.

‘The Great’ thinks Conor McGregor gave him the right advice

Alexander Volkanovski was supporting Israel Adesanya in UFC 281. Talking to Mirror fighting, Volkanovski said, “He is right,” referring to McGregor’s advice. He further added, “I’m committing to it with a new diet plan, new strength work, and stuff, so obviously we are doing a little bit  of bulking so he’s right, I’ll give it to him!”

Conor McGregor is the first and only two-division champion of the UFC. Alexander Volkanovski might be just the second on the much-coveted list. A move to the lightweight division will not be easy for Volkanovski, given the size of his opponents in the lightweight. Volkanovski is 5 foot 6 inches.

Volkanovski looking to meet McGregor on his way to a double championship

‘The Great’, however, looks prepared to take on the bigger guys. He talked about his training. He said, ” I’ve been under-sized my whole life. It’s not like I just train with bantamweights and featherweights, half my training partners are much bigger. I’m used to the big boys and I need them to work with me and get me the proper workouts so that says enough.”

Alexander Volkanovski is looking forward to becoming a double champion by his own admission. He is also looking to meet the Notorious in the Octagon, as McGregor is the only featherweight champion he hasn’t defeated yet. He is looking to get that missing feather in his hat.
