UFC megastar Conor McGregor took to social media and trolled Kamaru Usman for comments he recently made in an interview. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will headline for the UFC’s upcoming pay-per-view that will see the return of fans in the stadium. 15,000 UFC fans will flood the gates at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida for UFC 261.
Chiefly, Usman has come out and called himself the ‘money fight’ for the 170-pound division, a notion that doesn’t sit well with McGregor. The Irishman ridiculed Usman’s claim and dismissed the fact that ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had such traction. What’s more, Kamaru Usman’s use of McGregor’s taglines also seemed to be an irritant for ‘The Notorious’.

However, not everyone seemed to disagree with Kamaru Usman as his manager Ali Abdelaziz came out and defended the champ. Abdelaziz is always looking for a chance to get one over Conor McGregor, and he sided with Usman.

Is Conor McGregor the undisputed ‘money fight’ across MMA?
‘The Notorious’ has built a brand around his fight career that involves much more just the way he trains and performs. Despite having just three fights at welterweight, McGregor is arguably one of the division’s biggest draws. He fought Nate Diaz and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at 170 pounds and ran some massive box-office numbers.

This feat is impressive considering that the division has been home to stars like Georges St-Pierre, Jorge Masvidal, and Kamaru Usman. While Usman’s biggest draw was at UFC 251 when he fought Masvidal, he’s also gaining some traction.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is establishing his dominance through continuously racking up impressive title defenses. What’s more, being a dominant titleholder in the UFC certainly helps to elevate one’s star power.
However, when looking at the numbers across the board, McGregor’s dominance on pay-per-view records is unmatched. Each fight seems to outsell the next, and he always brings over a legion of casual MMA fans when he fights. In fact, his trilogy scrap against Dustin Poirier set for July might very well be one of the highest pay-per-view sellers in UFC history.
