Seems like the CEO has kept his promise. Per his latest announcement, UFC 299 will have Dustin Poirier vs. Benoît Saint-Denis and for UFC 300, it is the highly anticipated Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan fight for the #1 contender spot.
Dustin Poirier has been willing to fight on the UFC 300 card but seems like White had other plans for ‘The Diamond’. Poirier needs redemption after his loss against Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 and his bout against Saint-Denis might be just that. Further, it will be the latest in the line of five-round non-title co-main events in UFC history. ‘God Of War’ is nothing but a warlord himself and is on a five-fight winning streak. Their bout promises a spectacle at UFC 299.

Will there be a new lightweight champion?
Dana White’s new announcements signal a lot of activity in the lightweight division. How does this affect the title picture? As per an update from White himself during the announcement, the champion Makhachev is out injured and will be back in the summer.
At UFC 294, Makhachev defeated the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski for the second straight time, but this one was via a brutal head kick. Unfortunately, the champion injured his leg in the process and is tending to it. Per the UFC CEO, the winner of the Oliveria vs. Tsarukyan fight will face Makhachev when he returns.
